During “Shmita”/ the sabbatical year – the seventh year of the agricultural seven-year cycle the land in Israel is left to lay fallow and all agricultural activity, including plowing, planting, pruning, and harvesting, is forbidden by Jewish law. Living on a religious agricultural kibbutz and thanks to rabbinic interpretations of the law the sabbatical year is not felt by the majority of the members. In this performance, I spent the Sabbatical year sleeping in the fields that surround my home in an attempt to return the “Mitah” / bed to the “Shmita” / Sabbatical year
